The Night of the Long Knives
From June 30 to July 2, 1934, barely a few months after Hitler's 'legitimate' entrance as Führer, he ordered a brutal massacre to completely wipe out all his political rivals and the 'friends' he thought have gone too far. Amongst those murdered were Ernst Röhm, the previously mentioned head of the SA, Strasser, von Schleicher and von Kahr. The latter two were amidst those who opposed Hitler ever since he had led the NSDAP.
This drastic event proved a turning point in Hitler's rule. Already, he was letting lose his demonic side, the side where he has kept hidden to boost the false figure of a caring father for the country. Even the common people thought something was amiss, as even all-powerful dictators cannot hide all the evidence of 84 major political figures disappearing in one night. From this point onwards, Hitler is never the same; he has unleashed his true self, and it isn't that easy to change back.
The Night of the Long Knives is also referred to as the Röhm-Putsch, to emphasize the murders that took place in that incident. This is just one open example of Hitler's inhumanity. Below are four of the devisers of the Purge (Night of the Long Knives): Hitler, Göering, Goebbels and Hess.
